Since then, a whirlwind of things have happened. I took almost three years off from blogging. I almost quit completely because of fear. I took a BIG gulp and jumped back in. So here I am, feeling like a wildflower… finally free to be me.
So what changed? Well, I did. I accepted I needed to, and that has helped me grow and blossom into the person that writes to you here today. If you are struggling with areas of your life, be open to your dreams and dare to try something new. Really get to know yourself. It’s not as scary as you think.
SELF CARE is not selfish. Let me just throw that out there. How can you inspire others, if you are feeling empty and blue? How can you get that oxygen mask on another person, if you have not taken the time to first grab one for yourself? YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF YOU.
I accept my flaws and embrace them daily. I listen to my body, my need for quiet space, and my love for writing. I have become self-aware.
If you just asked yourself the question “how?”, I’m going to lead you back to that scary word, CHANGE. Start with a simple change. As you gain confidence, add others. Grow at your own pace and in your chosen direction. There is no timetable.
Here are a few changes I embraced over the past three years with more sure to come. I went to grief counseling. I started journaling. I got a puppy. I worked on developing closer relationships. I recreated and re-branded my baby blog. I left a job. I started a new career path. I made promises to myself – and kept them. Most importantly, I end each day being grateful for five simple things. Gratitude cannot be underestimated.

Are you ready, but need some fun suggestions? Try an outfit you would never wear. Who knew I would love overalls as much as I truly do. Gather a bunch of flowers and put them into a pair of boots instead of a vase. Fashion Fact: Hunter boots are life, especially heading into fall. I wear them out, when originally, I worried I wouldn’t wear them at all. Sometimes, the things we are most afraid to do are exactly what we need to do. Listen to what your inner voice is saying. It calls your name and leads the way as you grow and BLOOM! May all your weeds be wildflowers!

Hi girl!! So happy to see that you’re blooming!! Self-care is ESSENTIAL to happiness. Because if you’re not feeling 100%, how can you give 100% to the world? Something new I’m trying this month (and you’ll be very excited to hear) is that I’m going gluten and dairy-free! I’m listening to my body and hearing what she has to say and I think this is the answer! So send all your recipes my way. Happy Monday love!
Oh lovely Lisa, another great post, you dear sweet girl. Attitude of gratitude. Hearing the precious Word of God is a daily routine, now back to reading it too! Daily dose of Word in my ears & now in my eyes!. Can’t get enough of Jesus, He is life giving! Giveaway guess: sunflower seeds, lol!
May all your weeds be wildflowers! Love that!
Trying to find something positive in the negative and always looking for the gratitude each day. I am changing by not picking up my phone for at least the first hour of being awake, but being present in every moment and appreciating!
Love this for sure! NO TIMETABLE
I would love to get into a journaling and a routine to stay with it I’m thinking are in someone’s future.
Flowers are in someone’s future (emojis don’t show in the comments lol)
Self care is so important but something that a lot of us push aside. I have the few things I always try to do, manicures, time at the gym and lunches with my bestie. Recently I have decided to do more, I have a daughter who is turning 10 on Saturday and my self confidence has never been the best. I started seeing a therapist a month or so ago because I know I can be better for both of us! I just bought my first gratitude journal yesterday to start using. I know it’s not much but sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact! As far as the giveaway I, thinking it has something to do with sunflowers, nothing compares to the happiness they bring to everyone.
Girlfriend! We have so much in common when it comes to the importance of self-reflection! I called this summer my “Summer of Epiphonies.” The only way we can grow is if we are willing to look deep into our self. It can be scary but so enlightening! I refer to myself as a Faithful Dreamer. Do from one Dreamer to another, keep dreamin’❤️
I’m going to get my tarot read, something I’ve always been nervous to do!
I love the sentiment behind this post, also overalls are LIFE I could wear them 24/7.

Well, since I recently got laid off, I’m changing jobs…and maybe careers. Who knows! I’m looking forward to what the future brings. Good tip to embrace gratefulness – no matter how bad things get, there’s always something to be thankful for.
Your website is looking amazing and great blog post! I am going to try to learn to play my guitar that’s been sitting in the corner for the past year.
I’m committed to working out/moving my body for 30 minutes every day for the #Last90Days challenge! It officially started on Tuesday-but I started on Saturday just to help develop a good habit and to get a jump on things! My hope is to go into the new year stronger and more confident!
This is so cute and reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: “A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.”
Moving myself 2,000 miles away from home on short notice wasn’t enough for me this year! Gonna add snowboarding to the list! The mountains and foothills are too beautiful not to explore all year round!
